The ideal time to apply Clear Guard coating:
The ideal time to apply Clear Guard coating is before the coils are damaged, that is when the AC is brand new.
However, even if the gas is leaking, applying this coating properly post-maintenance will stop it from happening any further and keep the refrigerant within the air conditioning system.
What maintenance is required before applying Clear Guard Copper Preventive Coating?
In case your AC is new, no maintenance, in particular, is required. Make sure the copper coils are dry and not exposed to oil.
In case your AC is already in use, and you witness the AC gas leaking, then you must fix the copper coils before applying Clear Guard Copper Preventive Coating. You need to have a technical professional check the system for possible leaks and repair them. Here is the list of possible places for AC gas leakage:
Copper Coils (Evaporator coil)
Compressor Fittings
Brazing Joints & U-bends
Service Ports
Schrader Valves
Refrigerant Lines
Once all leaks are fixed by the technician, it's time to apply the Clear Guard Copper Protective Coating.
